I inspected yet another foreclosure today. As we are all aware, it is a sign of the current economic times. I am finding many of these foreclosures to be in good shape and my clients are telling me they are finding homes for very good prices. This particular home was in a great neighborhood in Decatur, right across the street from a park. The water and gas had been shut off in the home, however in this case, we were able to get them turned on to test all systems in the home. This was an older home, about 50 years old, however we found the electric system had been upgraded. My client was a young energetic Presbyterian minister who I believe found himself a great place to call home.

September 6, 2008August 22, 2008 – Foreclosure and mold
August 22, 2008Today I inspected a foreclosure home for a client who is an investor. The home was in good shape and was listed at a price to sell quickly. The utilities in the home had been shut off for a short amount of time. It does not take long for the Georgia heat and humidity, especially this time of year, to impact a home. In this case, a small spot of mold was found in the basement. Mold is certainly a concern! Here is a secret about mold – mold requires moisture. When you locate the source of the moisture and remove it, you remove the mold issue. Having your home inspected and tested for mold is the best way to find and remove the problem.
